The Bowl Games

Hah! Take that Wisconsin! I’m glad Tennessee finally managed to win another bowl game! It looks like Mizzou is going to win as well. Now if Michigan can beat those despicable Gators…
Update 1: The terrible, horrible, no good, very bad Gators go down in defeat. Hopefully, they will move to Australia (like Alexander wanted too) and quite pestering Tennessee…

  1. “Bowl games.” Huh. Do those involve pins and balls?

  2. No, no, no. This is the manly sport of American football, where hulking brutes try to split each other in two in order to prove that they deserve multimillion dollar contracts in NFL!

  3. Yay Tennessee!

  4. FFFFFFFT Tennessee.
If Wisconsin hadn’t been missing both of their starting WRs, they would have killed Tennessee. ‘Course that they not lost them, odds are good they would have been playing in a BCS bowl and very well might have won the Big 10.

  5. Actually, Tennessee was without their star wide receiver and several of their defensive starters, otherwise the game would have been worse for Wisconsin.

Actually Wisconsin lost both of their starting receivers in the game against Illinois, it was the big reason why they dropped from a top 5 team to #18. Look at how horrible Wisconsin’s passing offense was, and how they talked about Beckum. Beckum was their 3rd best receiver. Tennessee managed to hold Wisconsin to 155 yards passing, but WI had just under 200 yards rushing. Do you honestly think it would have been a match-up if Tennessee hadn’t been able to double team Beckum but instead had to contend with Swan and Beckum while trying to stop the running game? Also Wisconsin was playing a 3rd string DB, helped just a bit with Tennessee’s passing game. And in the end, it really came down to poor coaching, had the kicked the FG instead of going for it on 4th down, they could have kicked another FG to win instead of having to throw it deep in the final seconds.
Wisconsin totally dominated the time of possession, 32:30 minutes, ran all over Tennessee, dominated them in the 2nd half, but couldn’t convert for TDs, why? Because they lacked one of their best offensive players as well as a solid contributor in their #2 WR. That allowed TN to double Beckum all day, make him a non-factor, and gave them a chance to try to stop the run, something they didn’t manage to do.

  7. I’m just saying that if Tennessee would have had all their players they would have scored more and had a better defense. On the flip side, Tennessee has a bad habit of choking in the “big games” – their bowl record lately sucks – so they were due a win.

  8. The only mystery about the Mizzu destruction of Arkansas is whether or not the old white men that rule the game would let the young black man absolutely destroy the Cotton Bowl rushing record. After about a quarter’s delay, the old white men were eventually overruled and the young black man destroyed the record in two plays. Some cover-up story involving a hamstring pull was devised to explain Temple’s absence in the 3rd quarter. Explaining Missouri’s absence from a BCS bowl will be more difficult for the old white men.

I understand what you’re saying, problem is, Wisconsin was missing players as well, and those players were far more critical to them than the TN players. At the time their guys went down, WI was 5-0, #5 in the nation, TN was 2-2 and unranked. Wisconsin actually had a sub average rushing game against Tennessee, that should give you an idea.
