Book Meme

I’ve been hit with the book meme that is going around.

Book Meme:
oldwhitelady at It’s Morning Somewhere has entered the chain-meme fray is passing the book meme to you.

You are stuck inside Fahrenheit 451. Which book would you be?
[Note: In the novel – because books were burned –
to save the content of books, people memorized one in order to pass the content on to others.](cool book)It’s a tossup between the first three books of the Ilearth trilogy (which is actually six books long) and The Best of Cordwainer Smith. Cordwainer Smith wrote some of the most interesting and unique science fiction back in the 30’s and 40’s and was an interesting person in his own right. If you haven’t read anything by him check him out.

Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character? Ummm, the fifth amendment, yeah, I plead the fifth. Sigh, okay: C.L. Smith’s Jirel of Joiry and Corwainer Smith’s C’Mell

What is the last book you bought? Primate Phylogeny and Evolution – although I ordered it a month ago and it still hasn’t shown up yet!

What are you currently reading? The Origins of Adatpatations by Verne Grant, New Directions in Ecological Physiology ed by Feder, The Mammalian Radiations by Eisenberger and Genetics and the Evolutionary Process by Dobzhansky.

Five books for your desert island cruise package.
Complete Works of William Shakesphere – I’ve read most of them but not all of them.
The Anubis Gates by Tim Powers
History and Geography of Human Genes by Cavali-Sforza
The Structure of Evolutionary Theory by Gould
Wrights Three volume series on Genetics (may be cheating since it’s three books).

Who are you going to pass this book meme baton to and why? (only three people)
Dharma Buns – I’m curious to see what they will say.
Red State Rabble-he’s a pretty sharp guy.
I’m stumped for the third one because every one else I visit has already had it.

There’s normally a curse if you break a chain – so – If you break the chain, you’ll know.

  1. The dread pirate and I are so cursed already. We have broken countless chains, but for you… we’ll come up with something!

  2. I thought of the complete works of William Shakesphere, too. I think that’s the only book I’ve even heard of on your list. Wow! Impressive!
