Happy Birthday Ray Bradbury

Happy 86th Birthday Ray Bradbury!
To celebrate, let me know your favorite Bradbury book, novella, short story, etc. Mine is Something Wicked This Way Comes (or Dandelion Wine or Farenheit 451 or …well, you get the idea).

  1. Hmmm, Wicked is wicked, F451 is insightful, but I like his stories from the Illustrated Man the best, as well as his dinosaur stories (for kids).

  2. Favourite novel: Something Wicked This Way Comes
Favourite short story: a tie between The Scythe and There Will Come Soft Rains. Although The Jar gets an honorable mention for sheer creepiness, and The Watchful Poker Chip of H. Matisse for giggly silliness.

  3. Something Wicked for the novel. Dark They Were And Golden-Eyed for the short story.

  4. My favorite story is “The Naming of Names” from The Martian Chronicles, but most of his stories are great.

  5. I suppose I’ll have to say Fahrenheit 451 is my favourite book, as I think it’s the only one of his I’ve ever read. I keep telling myself I need to read Dandelion Wine, but….
“There Will Come Soft Rains” is definitely my favourite short story by him.

  6. Though it is not one of his best “A Sound Of Thunder” really stuck with me after I read it as a kid. I may have to dust off some of his books and reread them now that you’ve got me thinking of him.
