Protesting Nonexistent Issues

Call me confused. Residents of the Rockwood School District are up in arms over a plan to switch from the BC/AD system to the BCE/CE system. Only problem is that the plan does not exist:

It’s a debate about dates Thursday night in the Rockwood School District that has attracted hundreds of signatures on a petition. Even though the Missouri school district does not use any other date system and has no plans to use any other date system, citizens stated they want the district to use B.C. and A.D. as a standard when talking about dates in history. Students have traditionally learned that B.C. 200 meant 200 years before Christ. Now some think what should be taught is B.C.E. which means Before Common Era and C.E. Common
Era.

No mention of who the latter folk are. Either there is more to the story than is being reported, or this is a false issue…

  1. Sigh. I hate posting by email but the DSL still isn’t working – my computer isn’t recognizing the DSL modem for some reason. Anyway, the correct link is here

  2. I hope your DSL issues get straightened out soon. I really enjoy your blog. Just a note of support. Happy Holidays!

  3. Made of issues are the stock and trade of those who can’t tell reality from fantasy.
